World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter announced today at the Super DIRT Week Media Luncheon that Super DIRT Week has received the full support of The State of New York and that Super DIRT Week XLVI (46) will be held at the Oswego Speedway in 2017.
Super DIRT Week was originally to be held this year on the brand new Central New York Raceway Park, a facility spearheaded by DIRT founder Glenn Donnelly but construction was halted when the speedway did not receive grant money from the state of New York. CNYRP is still under construction and Donnelly says the track can be together in just a matter of months.
For 44-years Super DIRT Week was held at on “The Moody Mile” at the New York State Fairgrounds.
Super DIRT Week 2016 is the first time that clay has been added to the 5/8 mile oval in over 50 years. “The Steel Palace” as it is also known as hosts other big races on asphalt such as the Budweiser Classic Weekend, The Race of Champions and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Non-wing Super Modifieds and Small Block Super Modifieds compete at the facility weekly. The asphalt Race of Champions which was postponed due to weather will be held on the asphalt on October 29th.
More to come as it develops.
