BRADY FULTZ DOMINATES SEASON POINT FINALE AT THE WOODHULL RACEWAY.

(Woodhull, NY) Heading into the season point championship night at the Woodhull Raceway, Brady Fultz
had no chance of claiming the 2021 track title. With a season littered with bad luck aboard the Herbie Wright owned machine, Fultz had a good starting spot for the twenty-five lap A Main event lining up
third on the grid. Pole starter, Brayden Bills, who like Fultz was looking to secure his second feature event win of the season at the historic Steuben County facility shot into the early lead which he would hold briefly before Fultz stormed by and took the top spot away. From there it was clear sailing for the Dundee, NY native as his pace was slowed only twice by caution flags and each time, he was able to keep the second place running Dayton Brewer at bay. With the second and final yellow flying on lap
fourteen Fultz was able to put plenty of distance between himself and Brewer and when the checkered waved, Fultz had about a three second lead over Dayton Brewer who finished in second followed by
another solid performance by Donnie Lawson while the newly crowned 2021 point champion, Billy VanPelt came home for fourth after going to the back of the field for getting swept up in the lap fourteen caution flag. Rookie of the Year contender, Cole Youse would round out the top five.

For VanPelt it was track title number twenty-three at Woodhull where he finished up the regular season with five feature wins during the abbreviated season due to rain as the track lost some eight events in
2021.

In the Cummings Trucking RUSH Late Model feature action Steve LeBarron took command off the opening green from his outside front row starting position and began to build a sizable advantage. A lap
five caution would group the field and just a few laps later, Chuck LaFleur assumed the top spot after a LeBarron miscue. LaFleur would maintain the lead until lap twelve when Brian Knowles would move past the high flying LaFleur and take over the lead which he would never relinquish. From there Pork Chop Knowles was home free as he cruised to win five on the 2021 campaign as he also clinched the season track title prior to the nights event. Jason McGregor who began the event inside row four put on a steady drive to take home the runner up position while LaFleur would drift back to third as Jim Buck and Darin Horton would take home fourth and fifth place money.

Josh Keesey led the point standings in the NAPA Sportsman Division throughout the entire 2021 season heading into the September 4 event after his opening night feature win in April. Dale Welty along with
Kenny Peoples Jr. both had a shot at upending any hopes that Keesey had of picking up his first ever track title, but even with Peoples win on this night it still was not enough. Fifteen cars roared to Tony VanPelt’s opening green flag with AJ Costley leading the first ten circuits before the tenth-place machine of Peoples Jr. stormed into the lead which he would never give up. With Peoples Jr well on his way to win four on the season and third in a row along with second place point getter, Dale Welty in the pit area with brake issues it was a done deal for Josh Keesey as with his fifth-place finish, he was able to secure his first ever track championship. For the second straight week, AJ Costley had a car quite capable of winning, but had to settle for second place as he was followed closely by Art Goodier who
began the event in fourth and wound up third as he was chased across the line by Cayden Lawson and Keesey. In his championship winning interview, Keesey dedicated his season and title run to Dylan Dewert who is credited for giving him his start in Sportsman and Modified racing a decade ago.

The Joe Willcox Performance Street Stocks had a tight point battle heading into the night with as many as five different drivers having a mathematical shot at the track title. Rookie contender, Travis Webster took the early lead and even with relentless pressure from Dan Gardner throughout the entire twenty lap distance was able to claim his second feature win of the season. With Gardner solidly in second place all eyes were on the battle between Brett Crawford, who came into the night leading the points along with Brett Marlatt who was just a few points back. When the double checkered flags waved, Crawford was able to hold off Marlatt as the pair finished third and fourth allowing Crawford his first ever track championship in the extremely tough division. Mike Williams ran in with the lead group all race long to claim fifth.

Like the Street Stocks, the Woodhull Auto Parts Hobby Stocks also had an extremely tight point contest heading into the night with the top three contenders all looking for the championship. Jeredd Dennis just needed to keep second place point man, Scott Brown within his sights to claim the title and that is exactly what he did until a lap fourteen front straight away skirmish sent Brown pit side with damage to his machine. From that point on Dennis could hit the go button and mount a challenge for the win.

However, Dillon Philip, who had led from the drop of the opening green flag was not going to be denied his second trip to victory lane in 2021 and picked up the win. With Jeredd Dennis’ runner-up finish it sealed the deal as he claimed the title in the division. Kaden Dgien, making an inaugural appearance in the division came from twelfth to claim third while Mike Carapella and Mike Spencer would complete the top five finishers.
In the Johnson Auto Supply FWD good friends Codie Baker and Adam Delgrosso along with Wesley Houghtaling all were eying the 2021 track title. Delgrosso was able to clear traffic first from his seventh starting position and go onto the win with Baker glued right to his rear deck lid throughout the entire twenty lap feature and with his runner-up finish, Codie Baker won the title by a scant two points over Delgrosso who picked up win four on the campaign. Nate Freeland just nipped Houghtaling at the wire for third and fourth as Nick Brown completed the top five. For Baker it was championship number five in a row for the man who is credited for having a hand in the construction and set up of many cars in the class including the machine of Delgrosso.

Rick Amidon has watched his son, Brody win a class high seven feature events heading into the season point finale, but on this night father Rick was able to put things all together, keep his nose clean throughout the twenty-lap distance and go onto claim his first win of the season. Rookie, Russell Tubbs would lead early on until his machine came to an abrupt stop in thru four collecting Brody Amidon. That handed the lead to Rick Amidon; however, Brody and Jason Warner were able to wrestle the top spot
away only to find the pair making contact on the front straight away bringing out a late caution flag.

Once back out in front Rick Amidon was able to cruise to the popular win with son Brody claiming second over Warner who finished third. Justin Horton and Travis Southard both needed good finishes which they received by finishing fourth and fifth. Brody Amidon, who had an insurmountable point advantage heading into the night claimed the Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Mini Stock Track Championship.

The Wicked Tee’s Warriors found Ridge Cobb going back-to-back in taking the win and making it four total on the season as he cruised to the win. Weekly contenders Keegan Smith and Marshall O’Brian continue to impress as the pair finished second and third while other regulars in Jaden Stone and Jasmin Southard completed the top five. Levi Riley had an insurmountable point advantage heading into the night and with eight feature wins claimed the point title.

At the completion of the Great 8 Show the nine different feature winning drivers in the Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks ran a special Race of Champions event where each competitor kicked in cash for the winner take all event. Dillon Philip capped off a perfect night by not only claiming the regular night feature, but also nailed the RoC Special. Congratulations to all competitors.

Next week at Woodhull Griffith Energy along with S and D Pools and Supplies of Avoca, NY will be onboard to host the 17th Annual Lyle Sherwood Memorial for the Insinger Performance Modifieds.
