Minersville, PA August 28, 2015
Billy Pauch Jr had all the right moves and held off Duane Howard to earn the 2015 Lias Tire 358 Modifieds points championship.  Rick Laubach needed to win the race, but have Duane Howard and Pauch be unable to finish in order for him to be the champion, while Laubach was able to bring home the Victory, Pauch finished 4th and Howard 6th.  Pauch would win the championship by only 42 points over Howard who was the runner up, followed by Laubach, John Willman and Kevin Beach. The feature field started with Meme DeSantis and Shawn Fitzptarick on the front row. Fitzpatrick would lead the first 12 laps, then it would be all Laubach for the balance of the event.  Jared Umbenhauer had a great run going, challenging with Fitzpatrick for the lead until lap 12 when something broke and he was unable to finish the feature event.  Kevin Beach, who has been running very strong this season, challenged for the top spot, and maneuvered his way through lapped traffic and was able to hold on for the runner up spot at the checkered flag, followed by Fitzpatrick for third, Billy Pauch Jr and John Willman.  The heats were won by John Willman and Meme DeSantis.  The GME Hard Charger for the feature event would be Mario Dinatale for going from 20th to 13th for a gain of 7 spots.
The USS Achey Sportsman started their feature by having the missing man formation in honor and memory of Andy Fayash Jr.  Kris Lilick would be the early race leader and have his hands full with Doug Hendricks, who was charging hard to take over the top spot.  Behind them the battle for being in the top 5 heated up as Craig Whitmoyer, Mike Mammana and Brett Kressley all were trading positions back and forth and then Brad Brightbill joined in on the mix to try to work his way into one of the top finishing spots.  On the restart on lap 24, Hendricks saw his opportunity and passed Lilick for the lead, and brought along Brett Kressley with him into the runner up spot.  The pair would battle it out, but it would be Hendricks taking home the win followed by Kressley Craig Whitmoyer, Brad Brightbill and Mike Lisowski. The heats were won by Tim Fitzpatrick, Rob Light and Brrett Kressley.  The consi was won by Daryl Dissinger. The GME Hard Charger award would go to Brad Brightbill for going from 14th place to 4th for a gain of 10 positions.  The Kim’s Kreations Hard Luck award would go to Matt Clay.
The Savage 61 Roadrunners had a rough night in their feature event, so many of them wanted to bring home the win and with the points battle winding down, track position is a top priority for all of the drivers.  TJ Fitzpatrick would lead the race early on and have a battle back and forth with Shon Elk, who was looking for his first win of the season.  Elk pulled ahead on the 12th lap and was running strong, but several caution periods kept the teams close together, making it a great battle for the fans.   Andy Fayash worked his way past Elk on lap 17 and then a green and checker finish set up for a one lap drag event that had everyone juggling their positions at the line.  It was a literally a side by side finish between Elk and Fayash, but at the line, Fayash was just a hair ahead of Elk and would go to Victory Lane.  Elk would finish second followed by TJ Fitzpatrick, Terry Kramer and Jim Kost.  Chris Holland would finish in 6th and it is notable to say that these cars literally finished in one small grouping and made it a great shootout for the fans to watch. The heats were won by Jim Kost and Andy Fayash.  The Red White and Blue Autos Hard Luck award went to Fred Everly, who’s car was the cause of a red flag when it had flames coming out from underneath the front of the car.
The Slifko Fabrications Street Stock were back in action Friday evening and  it was Jeremy Becker and Jim Somers Jr. who drew the front row starting positions.  Becker would jump out into the lead and would begin to pull away but by lap 7, Rich Bossinger would take over the top spot.  Bossinger would be able to hold off the challenges of  Jeremy Becker to win for the second week in a row.  Becker would finish in the runner up spot followed by Jeff Haag, Jim Somers and Leroy Long. The heat was won by Jeremy Becker.
The ladies finished up the evening in the annual Kim’s Kreations Powder Puff event.  First up was the ladies in the Sportsman and Modifieds, Kim Glass was the dominating force in the race and would win the event over Jamie Clay and Lori Mrochko.  In the Street Stock and Roadrunner class, the ladies were battling it out and Pam Holland had the early lead, but at the end, it was Bridget Dougherty that would take home the win, followed by Pam Holland and Patti Fayash.  Tracy Speak finished 5th in the event.  The 4th place finisher was competing in the 40 car of Jon Slauch, but unfortunately they did not list their name, but we still would like to give them credit for their run.  All of the ladies put on a great show!
Coming up this Friday evening is the Coalcracker 40 for the Sportsman division.  It will also be the final points event for the Roadrunners, Sportsman and Street Stock Divisions.  The Modified drivers will be having their annual non winners race, any driver who has not won a feature event this year is able to enter and if they are the winner, they receive a starting spot in the final race of the year, the Jack Rich Inc.
