Billy Decker to Drive for Mike Payne during 2016 Campaign
The next shoe has dropped in the 2015-2016 North East Dirt Modified “Silly Season”, Three time Super DIRTcar Series Champion Billy Decker will pilot the Mike Payne owned machine for an all out assault on the Super DIRTcar Series in 2016. The car will be renumbered from Payne’s familiar No. 7z to No. 91, Decker’s long time numeral.
Decker will run the full Super DIRTcar Series slate for Payne utilizing Bicknell chassis, a home track to secure those ever so precious bonus points has not been determined at this time. Decker competed at the Brewerton, Fulton, and Utica-Rome Speedways in 2015.
This coming after the well publicized split between Billy Decker and John Wight’s Gypsum Express team following the 2015 season. Billy won two of his three Super DIRTcar Series titles driving for Wight. Decker is coming off of a 2015 season which saw him compete 73 times with “The Franklin Flyer” landing in Victory Lane 13 times with 43 Top-5s and 55 Top-10s. The Unadilla, NY native had also recently competed for Scott Kerwin during the satellite races at Super DIRT Week.
Payne fielded cars for drivers such as Erick Rudolph, Gary Tompkins, Stewart Friesen and as most recently Mat Williamson during the 2015 season.
More to come as it is available.
