CRSA Sprint Cars will make third “Hard Clay” appearance of 2016

MIDDLETOWN, NY- August 3, 2016- Following a mid-summer hiatus, the 800-horse power Big Block Modifieds roar back to action Saturday, August 6 at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York. And with just four race meets remaining to determine the Modified division point championship, the excitement level will reach a fever pitch. That’s because just 32 points separate the top-ten drivers, making every finishing position even more important.
Currently, former Modified champion Jerry Higbie (772 points) tops the standings, with Jimmy Horton (768), also a former Orange County Modified titlist, and Billy Vaninwegen (768) tied for second. Stewart Friesen (767) and Bob McGannon (753) complete the top five.
Sixth through tenth in points are Tommy Meier (751), Craig Mitchell (745), Mike Ruggiero (744), LJ Lombardo (743), and Gary Edwards Jr. (740).
Heat races will determine the starting lineup for the 30-lap headline Modified feature race.
Also on the August 6 racing program are the exciting Sportsman division, the unpredictable Rookie Sportsman, the full-body Street Stocks, and as an added attraction the third 2016 appearance on the historic five-eighths-mile Middletown “Hard Clay” speedway of the CRSA 305 cid Sprint Cars. Heat races will also determine the lineups for the support divisions’ feature races.
Superior Building Supply of Neversink and Johnstons Subaru are the evening’s sponsors.
Admission for the August 6 racing program at Orange County Fair Speedway is $15 adult, $13 seniors, and $1.00 children under 12. Racing begins promptly at 6:30 pm.
