I-88 Speedway and Thunder Mountain Speedway set to Join This Season

011716ARINDIANA, PA- January 17, 2016– The popular American Racer Cup program will once again take center stage at premier northeast racing facilities in 2016.

The program will be celebrating its seventh year rewarding participating drivers with a program where they never need to leave their home tracks. The ever evolving program plans to welcome I-88 Speedway and Thunder Mountain Speedway to $150,000 plus program this season as it continues to grow. The American Racer Cup ranks a drivers top finishes throughout the season at their home weekly speedway. Rick Laubach is the defending American Racer Cup Champion.

After successful 2015 race seasons at both I-88 Speedway in Afton, NY and Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, NY, the two tracks will join the American Racer Cup. Fred Woodward from Lias Tire stated, “We want to welcome the two southern tier tracks to our growing list of facilities in 2016.” American Racer Cup Program Director Andrew Harpell remarked, “We always welcome the addition of new tracks to the American Racer Cup and the involvement of I-88 Speedway and Thunder Mountain Speedway will only help to enhance the program.”

011617AR1Woodward added, “We have talked with both facilities about bringing the American Racer Cup program to their respected tracks for some time now and after talking with Karl Spoonhower of Thunder Mountain and Jamie Page of I-88 they were both definitely excited about the idea of bringing the American Racer Cup program to those tracks for the first time in 2016.”

“They feel this will give their drivers the added bonus from American Racer that will be beneficial to all the involved with the giveaway tires and point fund available to the racers.”

Drivers in both the modified and crate sportsman divisions will now be eligible to sign up for the American Racer Cup. Home track registration is only $50 for the modified teams and $40 for the crate sportsman teams. We look forward to another successful season in 2016 with the addition of these two speedways.

Teams will be able to register for the American Racer Cup program at the upcoming Motorsports Show in Oaks, Pa on January 22, 23 & 24.
