$1,000 Paydays Await Racers At Lanco’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway On June 27

Newmanstown, PA – While all five weekly divisions will be present, the June 27 spotlight will shine squarely on the visiting All Star Slingshots and the 270cc Micro-Sprints at Lanco’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. The winner(s) of those two main events could go home with more than $1,000 added to their bank accounts.

The Newmanstown, PA oval will play host to the third annual Slide at the Clyde, a National Tour event for the All Star Slingshots. The final program in the month of June will also find a special race on tap for the class that has been one of the headliners at the Clyde for many, many years as the 270cc Micro-Sprints take part in a feature event dedicated to the memory of Charlotte Hartman, mother of a three-time track champion of the 270cc division.

Kim’s Kreations and JD Motorsports are sponsoring the night of action, with OMS Racing coming on board as the title sponsor for Slide at the Clyde III. The third installment of the popular Tour event for the Slingshots will surely draw another outstanding field of competitors, as OMS and Kim’s Kreations team up to make this a very lucrative race for the Slingers. If the All Star Slingshot entries total 30 or more, the Slide at the Clyde will pay a cool $1,000 to the race winner, $450 to the runner-up, and $100 just to take the green flag!

There will also be cash prizes for some special award winners, such as Hard Charger, Hard Luck, Fast Time (during heat races), Highest Heat Race Finish (average from dual heat race format), and lots of lap money that has been collected by race organizer Kim Glass of Kim’s Kreations.

In addition, Glass is selling raffle tickets for $20 each, with the lucky winner receiving a brand new Slingshot Chassis and inner rails (swing arm not included). The drawing will be held during intermission on June 27, just before Slide at the Clyde III main event goes green.

Randy Smith won the first Slide at the Clyde in 2013, while Mark Sensenig took the checkered in last year’s race.

Charlotte Hartman, the mother of driver Richie Hartman – a three-time point champion in Lanco’s 270cc Class and twice a track champion in the 125cc division – passed away suddenly during the month of February. Ms. Hartman was a huge supporter of her son’s motorsports career and a huge fan of Micro-Sprint racing, so Kim’s Kreations and Jared Davis Motorsports thought it only proper that a 270cc race be run in her memory. On June 27, Kim’s Kreations and JD Motorsports join forces to present the Charlotte Hartman 270cc Memorial Race.

As long as the number of 270cc entries reaches (at least) 24, the Charlotte Hartman Memorial Race will offer a $1,000 payoff to the victor. Glass designed a commemorative T-shirt for the event, and the winner will receive 50% of the T-shirt sales in addition to the purse that has been set up for this race, so that $1,000 figure could go even higher by the time the Hartman Memorial Race goes green.

There will also be special awards, with cash prizes, for the 270cc drivers and lap money has been raised for this race, too.

While this will be a point race for the Clyde Martin regulars, drivers do not have to be Lanco club members in order to compete in the Charlotte Hartman Memorial. All drivers will draw for their starting spots in the heat races; there is a 12-car points handicapping system in place for the feature race.

The 600cc, 125cc, Sportsman, and 250cc Four-Stroke Micro-Sprints will join the 270’s and Slingshots for this unique, action-packed program. Gates open at 3:30 and warm-ups begin at 5 p.m. The first heat race takes the green flag at 6:00. The racing has been nothing short of phenomonal at the Clyde this season, as evidenced by the 600cc main event on May 30, when James Morris, Kenny Miller III, and Jared Esh turned the high banked oval into Slide Job City during their 25-lap feature. Morris prevailed for his second victory of the season, but Esh gave him all he could handle right down to the checkered flag.

It will be a Saturday night spectacular at Lanco’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway on June 27, and thanks to Kim’s Kreations, the All Star Slingshots will be involved in a huge, three-day weekend of racing when they pull into the Clyde’s pit area.

The inaugural Triple Crown of Slingshot racing will take place on June 26, 27, and 28. Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, PA will host the Slingers on Friday night, then comes the Slide at the Clyde III on Saturday. The final Triple Crown event will be run at Shellhammer’s Speedway on Sunday the 28th. In addition to the hefty purse at each event, a point fund has also been established for this three race miniseries. The fund continues to grow – it currently stands at more than $1,000 – and the Cordier family is also contributing a $200 bonus if one of their Shellhammer’s regulars wins the points.
