Christine Jr. Edges Wampler to Claim ARCH Night Checkered Flag SSP on Saturday Night
410 Sprint Cars and URC 360/358 Sprint Car Challenge Returns on Sunday, May 3
Newberrytown, PA (April 25, 2015) – On the Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown Night, Manchester’s Randy Christine Jr. claimed the victory in the BRC Late Models at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night. York Haven’s Mike Potts claimed his first feature win of the season in the 20-lap Street Stock feature race. Zach Newlin from Millerstown won the 20-lap IMCA PA Sprint Series feature race. Brian Rehbein of Lewisberry won the Xtreme Stock Car 20 lapper. The 15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by Tim Osheehan from Dover. Dennis Dorosz of Glen Burnie, Maryland claimed the 12-lap Mini Van feature.
From the pole position, Randy Christine Jr. took the early lead in the 25-lap BRC Late Model feature. Charles Potts fell into second place. By the midway point of the race, Billy Wampler made his way up to the runner-up spot. A caution on lap 14 allowed Wampler to close up on the rear bumper of the leader Christine. On the restart.Wampler challenged Christine low but a caution the next lap slowed his momentum. On the next restart, Christine took a two car length lead over Wampler. As the laps wound down, Wampler slowly closed in and by the end of the race, Wampler made a last lap challenge coming off turn four to the checkers. Christine held off Wampler to take the win by less than a half a car length. Chase Billet came on at the end to claim third place. Ron Kline started eighth and finished fourth with Charles Potts rounding out the top five. Billet and Rodriguez were the heat race winners.
Jasen Geesaman grabbed the early lead of the 20-lap Street Stock feature from the outside the second row. A solo caution on lap 2 bunched up the field. For the remainder of the race, Mike Potts, after starting in 13th spot, began moving towards the front of the field. With two laps to go, Potts moved into the runner-up spot behind Geesaman. Coming off turn four of the final lap, Potts edged out Geesaman to take the win. Richard Bossinger finished third with Scott Thunberg in the fourth place finishing position. The fifth place car coming across the line belonged to Jim Palm Jr. Bossinger and Palm Jr. were heat race victors.
The IMCA PA Sprint Series 20 lapper saw polesitter Zach Newlin jumping out to the early lead. By lap three, the 8th placxe starter Steve Storrie made his way to the runner-up position and set his sights on Newlin. Midway through the event, Storrie challenged Newlin for the lead but was not able to make the pass to claim the lead. The pair diced through lapped tracffic and at the finish, Newlin bested Storrie for the win. Third place went to Sean Kirtkpatrick. Billy Ney and Donnie Hendershot finished fourth and fifth places respectively. Heat wins went to Newlin, Kirkpatrick and Hendershot.
The 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event had the front row starter Brian Rehbein lead from start-to-finish, to claim the win. Alex Updegraff came from a 7th place starting spot to claim second. Davey Nester, Kyle Emig and Ronnie Buck all crossed the line in third, fourth and fifth places. Taking the Madison House Hard Charger award was John Frye by finishing sixth after starting in the 13th position. Heat race winners were Michael Smith and Emig.
Tim Osheehan took the lead on the start of the Road Warrior 15 lapper and never looked back to claim the checkers in the non-stop event. Travis Brown came across the line in second, followed by Daryl Sipe and Gary Grim in third and fourth respectively. Robert Wellman finished the race in fifth. Sipe and Wellman were heat race winners.
Dennis Dorosz took the early lead at the start of the 12-lap Mini Van race and never looked back to take the victory over Roy Denike. Daryl Kump II edged Zakari Kitner at the line to take third place. John Kitner rounded out the top five.
Friday Night, May 1, the second round of the Spring Shoot-Out Series will take place at the Outback Track featuring Quarter Midgets, Karts and Adult Speedcars. The pit gates will open 5:45 p.m. with a driver’s meeting at 7:20 p.m. Open practice begins at 7:00 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:30 p.m. The entry fees for each class will be $20.00 per entry for drivers with the seasonal (Spring/Summer) license. Pit pass fees for the driver are included in the entry fee. Non-license driver’s entry fees will be $25.00. Participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class). Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class regardless of class entry count. No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.
Pit pass prices for non-drivers at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 18 & older; Teens & Children ages 11 – 17 are $5.00; Children 10 years of age and under are $3.00. Ages 2 & under are admitted free.
Racing action returns to the Big Track at SSP on Sunday night, May 3 with the return of the Sunday Night Sprint Car Special featuring the 410 Sprint Cars and the URC 360//358 Sprint Car Challenge race.
On Sunday, the pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Track Prep laps begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m., followed by consolation races and feature events. General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $18.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $15.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.
The next Wednesday night Test & Tune will be on Wednesday, May 6. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with practice sessions rotating for each class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost is $14.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($34.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open and free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night.
Also on Wednesday night, May 6, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”

– Madison House XSC Hard Charger Award – For every regular season Xtreme Stock Car feature event, Madison House will present a Hard Charger Award to the driver that improves the most positions from their starting spot in the feature event. The winner will receive $25.00 compliments of Madison House (York) and be eligible for post-season awards for accumulating the most Hard Charger Awards during the season. To be eligible, the driver must be on the lead lap and finish the race. If two drivers improve the same amount of positions, the tiebreaker will be the driver starting closer to the pole position being awarded the Hard Charger of the race.
