Bloomington, Haubstadt Host Sprints Friday, Saturday
Chase Stockon continues his drive to a USAC National Championship this weekend as the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Cars visit a pair of Indiana tracks. Friday night’s race is at Bloomington Speedway and Saturday’s “Spring Showdown” is at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt.
Stockon has a half-dozen “top-10” finishes in the first six races to forge an 11-point lead over runner-up Robert Ballou entering this week’s activity. Despite a pair of seconds, Stockon continues to seek his first 2015 victory. Ballou scored a pair of wins in Florida and leads third-ranking driver Dave Darland by 13 points in the latest standings.
Darland, whose victory at Ocala, Fla. in February extended his all-time record to 23 consecutive years with at least one USAC National win, will try to extend his all-time leading USAC Sprint victory total which stands at 54.
Bryan Clauson won both Bloomington Sprint features last year while Daron Clayton won twice at Haubstadt and Ballou once.
Defending AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Champion Brady Bacon stands fourth in the points, 47 behind the leader after an Ocala victory and a pair of thirds.
