Big Diamond STSS ‘Anthracite Assault’ Rescheduled for Tuesday, June 16

MINERSVILLE, PA – As regulations for COVID-19 begin to ease in parts of the Northeast, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco gets back in drive for the 2020 season.

Big Diamond Speedway owner Jake Smulley and STSS organizer Brett Deyo have announced the reschedule of the ‘Anthracite Assault’ for Tuesday, June 16. The event had originally been slated for June 2.

Fans will be permitted to attend this event at the Schuylkill County track. The program will also be streamed live on Dirt Track Digest TV.

The Big Diamond ‘Anthracite Assault’ will offer dual points toward the STSS Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central (Race No. 3) and the opener of the Halmar International North Region.

Modifieds race 50 laps for $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag plus special awards and bonuses.

STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will also be in action, battling 25 laps for a $1,500 top prize and $100 to take the green, Race No. 3 of the series’ South Region.

A complete information sheet for the event is forthcoming.

The Afton (N.Y.) Motorsports Park ‘Afton Action 50’ that had been scheduled for June 16 has been postponed indefinitely due to New York State not allowing fans for sporting events. Afton Motorsports Park promoter Ron Ford hopes to host the event later in 2020.

Up next for the STSS is the ‘Battle at Budd’s Creek’ at Potomac Speedway in Budd’s Creek, Md., on Sunday, June 7 with the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman vying for South Region points. This event marks the first-ever visit by the series to Potomac and the state of Maryland.

Big Diamond Speedway is a three-eighths-mile clay oval located in Minersville, Pa., just miles from Pottsville. The facility offers free parking, state-of-the-art concession areas and restrooms and not a “bad seat” in the house, with hillside grandstands overlooking the on-track action. The speedway GPS address is 392 Forest Lane Pottsville, PA 17901. The official website is www.bigdspeedway.net.
