By Matthew Wiernasz
Stafford Springs, CT- Cory Casagrande will return to the Late Model division at Stafford Motor Speedway this season to run for the championship. Casagrande’s brother Kyle will also race in the Late Model division. ” I believe both my brother and I will be contenders when it comes down to it at the end of the year.” Casagrande Said
Adam Gray has won back to back Late Model championships the last two seasons. Woody Pitkat and Ryan Posocco also won championships in the Late Model division at Stafford in the past. ” I feel like every couple of years. Someone gets really hot and is able to dominate over everybody else. Hopefully this year we can make it a Casagrande.”
Looking at the competition this year in the Late Model division at Stafford, Casagrande thinks it will be pretty good. ” There’s been rules changes this year that I think will level out what you have to do and it will leave everyone changing stuff around and trying to figure out a new setup.”
Stafford Motor Speedway has had a lot of cars register in their divisions. The Late Model division will have a lot of drivers contending for wins and the championship in 2015. ” Stafford is just a place where people want to run. It’s a great facility that you can get used to racing every week and its great only to drive 8 minutes from my home to get to the races.”
Casagrande is also looking to have some fun this season as he will run a limited Granite State Pro Stock Series schedule. Bob Charland a SK Light modified driver at Stafford will also race the car during the season. They purchased a car and have been working hard in the shop preparing 3 cars for the upcoming season. Casagrande is planning to race the first Granite State Pro Stock Series race of the season at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park coming up on April 12th. He also has circled one of the races at Star Speedway and the race at Speedway 51 coming up on Saturday July 4th.
Casagrande will have his late model crew members help him crew on the Granite State Pro Stock Series and will also have some of Bob Charland’s crew members help work on the car. The motor is the same motor that Casagrande used when he drove the 51 last year with Jeff Connors. BFR Chassis is helping them with the setup of the car.
Casagrande felt it was good to experience to drive in a Pro Stock last season. ” Both races were pretty rough but I was able to log a lot of laps. A Super Late Model or Pro Stock is just an awesome type of racecar.”
The Stafford Motor Speedway NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler will happen on April 24th-26th. The Granite State Pro Stock Series season opener will happen on Sunday April 12th at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
