SidesBAYTOWN, TX- March 2, 2016- Jason Sides is looking forward to his next challenge.

Sides returns to The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas this Thursday and Friday with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. He has earned a top-10 finish at the half-mile oval in each of the past seven seasons and a top five in all but one of those years.

In fact, Sides has captured three runner-up finishes and seven top fives in the 11 World of Outlaws races at the track since 2009.

“We’ve been really good in the past and close to winning,” he said. “I’d be happy with a pair of top threes to get some momentum going into California.”

Sides wraps up this weekend by making his debut at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., for the NAPA Desert Shootout.

His team is coming off a Texas doubleheader last weekend, which began on Friday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige for the ATX Rentals Outlaw Shootout. Sides qualified 14th quickest and placed fifth in a heat race to lock into the 18th starting position for the main event.

“That was a different kind of race track,” he said. “They had the tires pushed way out on the race track. It would have been better if they pushed them in for the feature and made a bottom. It got real slick real quick. About halfway through everybody moved up and it was follow the leader.”

Sides posted a 16th-place result before capping the weekend on Saturday at Royal Purple Raceway for the O’Reilly Auto Parts presents the World of Outlaws hosted by Kasey Kahne.

Qualifying was cancelled because of a scoring problem, which lined the drivers up in heat races based on the pill draw. Sides started his heat on the outside of the second row and he advanced a position to finish third, which was only one spot out of making the dash. That lined him up 12th for the feature.

“On the start we were on the outside and lost a spot or two,” he said. “We got rolling pretty good and then late I lost two spots late trying the top. I was just trying to move around to make something work. It was one of those nights where you finished where you started. The track was still fast in the feature. Late in the feature it started slicking off and we were better toward the end. I just needed to rotate the bottom better.”

Sides ended with a 14th-place finish.
