ABBOTTSTOWN, PA- May 20, 2016- Donny Schatz hasn’t been the easiest driver to live with over the last four or five weeks.
There are probably some days and nights when his crew just wanted to ship him to the hotel or even home. When you are used to winning like Schatz, you get a little ornery when things aren’t going your way.
But that’s what makes Schatz the best in Sprint Car racing. He demands excellence and works to get it.
It paid off Thursday night. Schatz got back to Victory Lane for the first time since April 2, when he held off a charging Danny Dietrich to capture the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Gettysburg Clash at Lincoln Speedway.
The victory was Schatz’s sixth of the season and 210th in his World of Outlaws career. It also netted him a $10,000 payday.
“A win is a win,” Schatz said. “Starting up front was really important, and my guys have been digging and digging.
“I’ve probably been the most miserable person to be around the last couple of months. I’m just glad to be standing here.”
