Regional Races Locked For Summer Schedule At New Hampshire Motor Speedway

LOUDON, NH- January 18, 2016- There will be more than 1,300 miles of racing action this summer at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with the regional series now locked in to both NASCAR weekends. Speedway officials announced today that tickets are now on sale for all races with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and American-Canadian Tour added to compliment the July and September weekends.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race has been moved from Friday to Saturday, capping off a tripleheader day of racing in July, while the American-Canadian Tour will do the same in September. The Whelen Modified Tour will run twice in July and once in September. The regional touring series join NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, XFINITY Series, and Camping World Truck Series for a jam-packed weekend of summer racing.
“We understand how important these series are not only to the integrity and depth of our race weekend schedule, but to our dedicated fan base,” said David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. “These series provide some of the most dramatic and exciting racing we see on our track all season and add valuable entertainment for our fans.”
The Granite State 70 has been moved to July 16, setting up a tripleheader Saturday of NASCAR racing. It will be the 70th race run for the K&N Pro Series East at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. This series features some of the best up-and-coming drivers in the business, with 10 of the last 14 winners having been 20 or younger at the time of their victory – including Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, Brett Moffitt and Ryan Truex.
The mighty mods are always a fan-favorite for bumper-to-bumper racing with three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races on the schedule, including the third annual All-Star Shootout on Friday, July 15, the New England 100 on Saturday, July 16, and the F.W. Webb 100 on Saturday, Sept. 24. The All-Star Shootout is an invitational 35-lap event featuring drivers from the Whelen Modified Tour and Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Both the July and September mod races have seen four of the last eight races have finishes of less than .100 of a second.
The American-Canadian Tour caps off the 2016 regional racing season when it drops the green flag on the Bond Auto Parts ACT Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24. This non-points race includes the best local late model racers in New England and Canada. New Englander Eddie MacDonald (Rowley, Mass.) has won in every odd-numbered year since this all-star race’s inception in 2009. As the reigning champion, he will take on a field of the best regional drivers from across the Northeast and Canada, eager to put on another terrific show in front of friends, family and racing enthusiasts from around the globe.
