Georgetown Speedway Announces Melvin L. Joseph Memorial Schedule Change: Friday Moves to Sunday; Saturday Show Unaltered

GEORGETOWN, DE – Georgetown Speedway management has announced a schedule change for the 2019 Melvin L. Joseph Memorial weekend.

Due to a high percentage of predicted rain on Friday afternoon and evening, speedway management has announced the Friday program will now take place on Sunday, March 17.

The Saturday (March 16) portion of the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial will go off as scheduled with the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Modifieds running 49 laps for $6,949-plus to win, $1,000 for 10th and $490 to take the green flag. The event serves as Race No. 1 of the STSS Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central.

Saturday’s program also includes STSS Crate 602 Sportsman paying $1,490 to win plus 12-lap features for Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.

Pit gates open on Saturday at 1 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 2 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 4 p.m. with racing at 5 p.m.

NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bobby Allison will be signing autographs and meeting fans from 3-4 p.m.

Saturday grandstand admission is $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17), $10 for Children ages 9-12 and Kids 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission for Saturday is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 for Children five and under.

The Sunday program is comprised of Small-Block Modifieds racing for $4,049 to win (30 laps) plus RUSH Late Models ($1,049 to win), Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.

All gates open at noon on Sunday. Hot laps hit the track at 2 p.m. with racing at 3 p.m.

Sunday grandstand admission is $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17), $10 for Children ages 9-12 and Kids 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission for Sunday is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 for Children five and under.

Weekend passes will be available for both the grandstand and pit areas.

Weekend grandstand passes cost $40 for Adults, $30 for Seniors and Students, $15 for Children and Kids 8 and under are FREE.

Weekend pit passes cost $65 (Adults ages 13 and up), $15 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $4 for Children ages 5 and under.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
