BALDWINSVILLE, NY- January 15, 2016- The Sportsman class at Fulton and Brewerton Speedway continues under the DIRTcar banner in 2016, and will play a pivotal role in the strengthened DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series. Four of the sixteen scheduled Sportsman series events will take place at either Brewerton or Fulton in conjunction with marquee Modified events.
Fulton Speedway will kick off the DIRTcar Championship Tour on Friday, April 29th as part of the Highbank Holdup Weekend. The series will return to Fulton on Friday and Saturday, September 30 and October 1 for the prestigious Industrial Tire of CNY Sportsman Shootout 50 at the 31st Outlaw 200 Weekend. It’s the first time since 2010 the $2,500-to-win classic has been a DIRTcar Championship event.
Over fifty DIRTcar sportsman teams lined the Brewerton Speedway pit area at the 2015 Hurricane 100 during Super DIRT Week for a 30 lap feature won by Rocky Warner. The series has a return engagement on Thursday, October 6 but not before a $1000-to-win feature on Friday, September 16 in conjunction with the 2nd annual Duel at the Demon Super DIRTcar Series 100.
Fulton and Brewerton Sportsman teams will also be competing for the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman championship, which rewards DIRTcar licensed drivers for their best 16 finishes in weekly sanctioned events.
DIRTcar rules will apply for the 2016 season at each track, with some Fulton and Brewerton amendments in place for weekly events. Rules are posted at http://fultonspeedway.com/pdfs/2016/Sportsman-Rules-bulletin-2016.pdf.
