1-IMG_1281FONDA/FULTONVILLE, NY- April 10, 2016- “Awesome news, we have just passed the $10,000 mark for the combined modified point fund between the Fonda Speedway and the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park and it’s still growing,” promoter Pete Demitraszek said on the Glen Ridge Facebook page earlier this week.

“The top ten modified drivers racing weekly at both speedways will take part in the “DARE YA” point fund sponsored by Palmer Service Center, Morris Ford and now two other people who wish to remain silent. The “DARE YA” point fund is on top of both tracks regular point funds and any other sanctioning point funds.”

1-IMG_0179Although practice sessions had to be cancelled at both tracks for the weekend of April 8 & 9 because of an early week snow storm, Demitraszek hopes that he can catch a break with the weather so that he can hold the season opener at Glen Ridge on Friday, April 15 and an open practice session at Fonda on Saturday, April 16.

With the combined point fund also set for the sportsman division at both of his tracks, there was also a recent announcement about something special for the pro stock drivers who compete at Glen Ridge in 2016 as a crate motor will be given away to one lucky competitor at the season ending awards banquet.

A unique way to choose a winner of this crate motor will also result with 25 chips given to the race winners each week and one chip less per finishing position after that meaning that the person last in the point chase for 2016 will still have a chance at winning the motor!.

Pro stock driver Todd Hoffman put the unique format together along with help from Shultz Auto Care, Stone Motorsports, Mike Sowle, Longhorn Trucking, Boyd’s Motorworks.

1-IMG_4071While Morris Ford will provide a pace vehicle for the Fonda Speedway as they have for years now Demitraszek will continue his connection with the Fuccillo Autoplex of Nelliston as they will provide a pace vehicle for the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.

According to Demitraszek rules will be a priority this year at both of his tracks. “We are going to be on top of tech but promise to be fair and consistent with everyone,” he said.

Another priority for Demitraszek this year will be the starting time at Fonda which will be 7:30 p.m. “We are looking at getting people out of there by 10:30,” he said. “Warm-ups will start at 7:00 p.m. with the first heat on track at 7:30. There will be no extra caution laps or anything to hold up the racing program and we will adhere to our schedule during the entire evening.”

The 2016 car show was recently completed and according to Demitraszek has already been scheduled for 2017. “The VIA PORT Rotterdam management were ecstatic with the car show and we are trying to help them put together an antique car show at the mall in the future.”

Demitraszek is excited about the 2016 racing season at both of his speedways but also couldn’t do it without the help of his family including his wife Cindy, his son Matt, and his daughters Christina and Charleen along with their husbands.

“In 2016 we are going to try to grow the attendance at both tracks and turn things around,” Demitraszek added.
