DAN POMPEY AND KENNY TITUS WIN MODIFIED FEATURES AT PENN CAN

Susquehanna, PA…The great racing action continued at Penn Can Speedway with the modifieds competing in twin 20 lap feature events. In the opener, Dan Pompey held off Alan Rudalavage and Nick Rochinski to claim the hard fought victory. In the nightcap Kenny Titus was the man to beat winning by a car length over Kevin Hartnett. In the companion 602 sportsman feature Brain Mady came home the winner for the first time this season. The street stock twenty lap main event was another thrilling event with Steven Deinhardt holding on to get the win over Butch Green and Shane Wolf Jr. Eric Beach used a borrowed car to claim the factory stock win with Mike Robinson claiming the victory in the four cylinder division. Kailee Dimorier won in the Xcel modified eighteen lap feature event.

The first of two modified feature saw Dan Pompey change his bad luck into good fortunes as he started on the pole of the twenty lap feature and shot out to the early lead. Rookie modified contender Mike Loney did not let Pompey get too far out front as he chased him lap after lap in the early going. With that action going on in front of the field, Alan Rudalavage, Nick Rochinski, and Adam Mac George had a battle going for positions back in the pack. Rudalavage put his car to the top side and made his way to second alongside Pompey coming to the white flag only to have his momentum stopped by a caution. With one lap remaining Pompey held off Rudalavage for the win. Rudalavage, Rochinski, Loney, and MacGeorge rounded out the top five. In the second twenty, Joe Colsten jumped from his second starting spot to take command over Bobby Trapper, Brian Malcolm, and Kenny Titus. Two mid race cautions kept the field close. On a thirteen lap restart Titus started his move to the front, using the extreme high side of the track, Titus passed Trapper, Malcolm and on lap fifteen he went around Colsten for the lead. A late race caution bunched the field but Titus stayed strong and won his first ever modified feature over Hartnett, Colsten, Billy Thornton, and Malcolm.

The 602 sportsman feature was another hotly contested battle. Paul Rooney was the early leader until rookie Brian Mady made the move to take the lead on lap five of twenty. Mady and Rooney continued the fight lap after lap with Nick Mady and Ryan Olsommer joining the fray. Mady stayed strong and held off the challenges to get his first ever 602 sportsman victory at Penn Can. Rooney, Olsommer, Nick Mady and Alec Gennarelli followed.

The street stock feature was again another thrilling side by side twenty lap feature event. Randy Fox took the early lead with Steve Deinhardt, Shane Wolf Jr , and Butch Green following. Without the aid of cautions, Deinhardt chased down Fox and took the lead on lap fifteen. He then held off a fast charge Butch Green for the win.

Ted Mills Jr took off to the early lead in the fifteen lap factory stock feature. His strong run came to an end when mechanical problems sent him pit side on lap seven giving the top spot to Eric Beach in a borrowed car. Beach kept the car out front the remaining laps and won his four feature of 2014.

In the four cylinder main event Mike Robinson came from his fourth starting position to take the lead on lap five and never looked back. Robinson would win his first ever victory at the speedway ahead of Dylan Robinson, Don Doster Jr, John Maynard, and Kenny Underwood.

In the eighteen lap Xcel 600 modified feature it was Kailee Dimorier winning for her first time ever at Penn Can. She took the lead early in the race with a fourth lap pass over Jamie Frantz and then held off the strong pressure by Scott Adams to get the Victory.
