Defending Honda USAC Western Midget Champion Ronnie Gardner of Norco, Calif. has a nine-point lead over Trey Marcham in the latest series standings as he searches for a third consecutive series title. Gardner and Marcham are the odds-on favorites for victory when the series visits Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. Saturday for the "J.D. Heiskell & Company Race Night." Randi Pankratz won Saturday night's USAC HPD Western Midget race at Bakersfield, (Calif.) Speedway. USAC HPD Midget competition unfolds this Saturday in Columbus, Ohio and Ventura, Calif. as Midwest and Western series participants compete. The Midwest opener is at Columbus Motor Speedway and the Western event is at Ventura Raceway. Austin Nemire, last year's Midwest champion, won all four features contested at the Columbus oval. Dylan Nobile holds serve in USAC's Western HPD Midget series, which resumes this Saturday at the Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway.
